Last Word in a chilled coupe with a brandied cherry, pale green liquid, A&A watercolor.

Cocktail· London Dry

Last Word

The Last Word is a shaken cocktail made with equal parts London Dry gin, green Chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, and fresh lime juice, served in a chilled coupe. The four-way equal-parts build is unusual and produces a drink that is both herbal and tart at once.

Method

  1. Combine gin, green Chartreuse, maraschino, and lime juice in a shaker.
  2. Fill with ice and shake hard for 10 to 12 seconds.
  3. Double-strain into a chilled coupe.
  4. No garnish, or a brandied cherry if you want one.

Garnish

None traditionally. A brandied cherry is acceptable.

Pro tip

Equal parts is the whole point. The drink works because each ingredient cancels the next. Move one ratio and the architecture collapses.
