Cocktail· Rye
Brooklyn
The Brooklyn is a stirred cocktail of rye whiskey, dry vermouth, maraschino liqueur, and Amer Picon, served up in a coupe and garnished with a brandied cherry. It is the sibling of the Manhattan, with dry vermouth instead of sweet and a bitter French liqueur replacing the bitters. True Amer Picon is hard to find in the United States; Bigallet China-China and Amaro CioCiaro are the closest commercial substitutes.
Ingredients
- 2 oz rye whiskey
- 0.75 oz dry vermouth
- 0.25 oz maraschino liqueur
- 0.25 oz Amer Picon (or Amaro CioCiaro or Bigallet China-China)

Pro tip
Bigallet China-China is the closest commercial substitute for the original Amer Picon; Amaro CioCiaro also works. Skip the substitute entirely and the drink loses its bitter spine.
