The Boulevardier is a stirred cocktail made with bourbon, Campari, and sweet vermouth, served over a large ice cube and finished with an expressed orange peel. It is the whiskey cousin of the Negroni.

Method

  1. Combine bourbon, Campari, and sweet vermouth in a mixing glass.
  2. Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir for 20 to 30 seconds.
  3. Strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube.
  4. Express the orange peel oils over the glass and drop the peel in.

Pro tip

Bourbon's sweetness reshapes the Negroni's bitterness. Use a 100-proof bourbon if you want the spirit to stay legible against the Campari.
